Quality

It is a fundamental goal of TNT Airways S. A. and its employees to provide a high level of service and satisfaction to its customers, and to ensure safe operational practices and airworthy aircraft. It is our policy to continuously review and improve the quality, safety and cost effectiveness of the services we provide.

To this end we have established a Quality System which is designed to meet the requirements of JAR-OPS 1, JAR-FCL 1, the EASA Regulations and the requirements of the Belgian Civil Aviation Authorities.

Our Quality System is designed to monitor achievement and continued compliance with the applicable regulations in the airline industry.

In a broader context, TNT Airways is committed to a culture of quality and excellence, which is assessed by using the framework of the EFQM model. Based on the outcome of internal EFQM assessment, improvement areas in the area of leadership, people, policy and strategy, processes and partnership & resources are identified and prioritised.

The Quality Assurance Programme of TNT Airways defines the audit schedule in all area's of our operations:

  • Flight Operations (Training, All weather Operations, Manuals. Use of the MEL,...).
  • Maintenance (Airworthiness Directive Management, Defect Deferral, Maintenance Programme, Maintenance Providers..).
  • Ground Operations (Load control, Ramp handling, Airside Safety, Dangerous Goods, Passenger Handling,..).
  • Type Rating Training Organisation (Manuals, Training Records, Actual Training,..).
  • Security and Flight Safety.
  • Wet lease: The Quality Department of TNT Airways monitors the Safety and Liability standards of Aircraft Operators providing aircraft and crew to TNT Airways. (see the circular from the Belgian Civil Aviation Authorities for the Belgian Requirements).

In order to reduce the duplication of audits in outstations and at subcontractors,
TNT Airways participates in the following audit pools:

  • DAQCP (De Icing/Anti-icing Quality Control Pool ) : to monitor compliance of de-/anti-icing processes applied on our aircraft. For more information see DAQCP website.
  • IATA Fuel Quality Pool : to monitor compliance of fuel services and the supply, storage and distribution of fuel at airports according to international safety standards. For more information see IATA website.
  • TNT Air Network Quality Audit Pool: to monitor compliance of the ground handling (load control, ramp handling), dangerous goods handling and security at the outstations.

The audit planning and results are managed with the aid of a in house developed software system. TNT Airways Quality Department also participates in the BATA (Belgian Air Transport Association) Quality Meetings in order to exchange information and define best practices.
